The London based designer Nina Tolstrup runs the design firm Studiomama, which designs and manufactures a variety of interior design products. In addition to launching designs under the Studiomama brand, Nina Tolstrup has also designed products for various international companies including Habitat, Lexon and Trip Trap.
Nina Tolstrup trained at the design school Les Ateliers in Paris and also holds a BA in Marketing from the Copenhagen Business School.
Nina Tolstrup has previous experience as a curator. In 2007 she was the curator for the exhibition 'Made in Denmark' at 100% Design, which is UK’s most prominent design event. The exhibition featured works by some of Denmark’s leading young furniture designers, and 'Made in Denmark' won the award for “Best Contribution to 100% Design”.
As a curator for Crafts Collection Nina Tolstrup takes over from architect Karen Kjærgaard, who was the curator and exhibition architect on Danish Crafts’ previous four Crafts Collections.
“My primary intention with the upcoming collections is to carry on the image of Danish craft that has been created through the previous collections, and which expresses the renewal, the power and the potential of new Danish craft. My international experience and extended network in the design industry enables me to bring this message into new contexts and further profile Danish craft in an international setting”, says Nina Tolstrup.
Over the years, Crafts Collection has been presented in a select range of international design shows in Europe and the USA. Crafts Collection has received awards in a number of events including Ambiente in Frankfurt and ICFF in New York.
