SproutSprout is a small vase with a slim slightly bent neck. The vase is intended for a single flower and comes in a clear white glaze that emphasizes the colour of the flower. The series now also includes a slightly larger vase that comes in three light delicate glazes: light green, blue and pale golden. Both vase forms are signed underneath with Amstrup’s email address and they are sold in a floating wrapping in the form of an airtight plastic bag, specially produced for the vase. |
Jeanette List Amstrup
b. 1962, Danish Ceramic Designer
Amstrup graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 1994. Her ceramic experiments have centred on a quirky shape she calls Sprout. This simple porcelain vase is designed to hold just one flower, and this function imparts to the vase a very special character, which makes it difficult to renounce its acquaintance. After experimenting with the plaster models preceding her final design, Amstrup developed Sprout in two sizes. Both vases arose from an interest in clean-cut shapes and stringent lines, and their organic form is achieved through Amstrup's mastery of a range of special ceramic techniques. |
