VenusVenus is a hand thrown dinner set in high-fired porcelain. It has a special softly shaped transparent look with obvious traces of the work of the hand. Individual parts of the set are thrown with added handles or spouts. The set has a Scandinavian purity, while at the same time making references to both Japanese and South American ceramic traditions. The set is made for daily use and is dish-washable. |
Christian Bruun
b. 1963, Danish Ceramic Designer
Bruun graduated from the School of Decorative Art in Copenhagen in 1990. Has had own studio in Copenhagen from 1991. His thrown forms combine the tradi-tional potter’s work methods with the sculptor’s sense of volume. The curly edges of his bowls are derived from the earthenware tradition, but carried out in por-celain. He produces one-of-a-kind pieces as well as sets in limited editions. Bruun has helped establish International Ceramics Centre, Guldagergaard in Skælskør and has headed various workshops at symposiums held by the CLAY TODAY group. | By same artist: |
