StackedcoffeeStackedcoffee is a porcelain coffee-set. It comes in a specially designed case made of walnut wood and rubber bands. The set consists of a basic part with four cups and matching plates as well as accessories consisting of two little bowls, a lidded sugar bowl and a cream jug. The porcelain has a transparent glaze and a blue, grey or brown decoration, deliberately created in the moulding process. Each part is unique in its clear, geometric shape. The coffee-set is functional and elegant with distinct references to the Japanese tea-ceremony. |
Alikka Garder Petersen
b. 1971, Danish Designer
Garder Petersen graduated from Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen in 2003. Recently she has worked on developing a portable coffee-set, suited to our modern lifestyle and the ways we drink coffee. Coffee is no longer a drink to be enjoyed only at home. We drink coffee at coffee-shops and carry it with us from one destination to the next. At the same time we focus on quality and pleasure when selecting each individual cup. Changes in lifestyle have demanded a redefinition of traditional coffee-sets, and this was how Stabelkaffe came about. Garder Petersen’s coffee-set was first presented at the 2004 Biennial at Trapholt Kunstmuseum, where it received an award from the Danish Arts Foundation. |
