CirclesCircles are two classically shaped bowls, available in two sizes, large and mediu m. The paper-thin porcelain gives them a wonderful sound. Computer-generated to fit the curved shape, the condensed pattern is then transferred by hand. The black–and-white graphic ornamen-tation provides a playful contrast to whatever organic shape and colour the bowls might be filled with. Squares are a set of bowls that fit together to create Three Squares in One. Nested inside one another, the set looks like a flower, when separated they encourage you to combine the pieces in an endless variety of ways, lending an element of play to their everyday use. Three Squares in One comes in a series of five sets, one black, one white, and three patterned sets, graphically ornamented with Net, Structure, and Fragment. |
Ane-Katrine von Bülow
b. 1952, Danish Ceramic Designer
Von Bülow graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 1980. She was recently awarded Ceramic Europe’s Wester-waldpreis 2004 for the series of vessels now featured in Danish Craft's Collection no. 9. Her work explores repeated patterns on porcelain vessels. The shapes, which may be described as subtly geometrical, constitute a demanding ground for the printing process that completes the whole. |
