HapiluHapilu is a series of bowls in bright cheerful colours to be used, for example, for snacks, tapas or tea. The same pattern is repeated in all the bowls, which come a wide range of colours. The bowls are made of plain and dyed porcelain. The form is based on an old pattern from a glass bowl, which Pia Lund refined and elaborated at the potter’s wheel. Pia Lund has been fascinated with crystal glass since she was a child, and she has reused this pattern and reinterpreted it in porcelain. Hapilu is about nostalgia and joy. Pia Lund Hansen
b. 1980, Danish ceramist and designer
Pia Lund Hansen graduated from the Kolding School of Design in 2006. She works mainly in porcelain and does one-offs as well as serial productions. In creating her products she usually works with casting and with several layers of dyeing. She draws inspiration from things that remind her of childhood or nature, for example the patterns and colours of a mussel or a clam, which she interprets in clay and uses as ornamentation. Pia Lund’s works often feature dyed porcelain and the use of layers of white and colours. The surfaces are often matt and rough-textured. |
