Table Top

Table Top are buttering boards in smoked oak, cherry or maple that can also be used as small plates, for example to hold a coffee cup and a couple of biscuits or a sandwich. Akiko Kuwahata has experimented with the thickness of the board and sought to challenge the wood. Table Top is silver-grained and kiln-dried.

Akiko Kuwahata

b. 1976, Japanese designer

Akiko Kuwahata studied Living Space Design at the College of Art Nihon University in Japan, graduating in 1999, and was a guest student at the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2004-2005. Akiko Kuwahata’s exhibition venues include Designmuseum Danmark and several representations at the Copenhagen Furniture Fair. She mainly works in wood, and in the creative process and the search for the right shape, it is important for her to get her hands on the material. She strives to make products that are irresistible and pleasant to touch. She draws inspiration from traditional Japanese crafts and Scandinavian design.
Akiko Kuwahata designs and makes high-quality utilitarian objects in wood in order to promote the use of well-made wooden products in our everyday life. Wood is a good material, and in her work she seeks to promote the many different facets of wood.
