FragmentsFRAGMENTS is a series of paper placemats featuring punched-out patterns. They are all segments of the same pattern design, with references to bindings and punch card patterns, the underlying foundation of woven textiles. The placemats are best suited for one-time use. The initial idea was to create a product which allows the user to define possible uses. The normally fleeting nature of a laid table is imbued with a personal touch. Each place mat may be used alone or combined as desired to form individual table settings. The place mats are available in white and measure 34 x 45 cm. |
Ane Lykke
b. 1967, Danish Textile Designer
Ane Lykke graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 1996 specializing in industrial design. Her method of working is at once exploratory and process-oriented, always seeking new understandings of the familiar universe of textiles. She defines textiles in the very broadest sense – an attitude which is borne through in her utilization of textile effects. Ane Lykke explores the possibilities of her materials, particularly through interaction with the people and places that surround them. Her goal is to turn her materials into an integral part of an architectonic whole. Ane Lykke’s work is characterized by the way it draws in users and observers to play a central part. This also applies to her series of table fragments “Fragments”. Ane Lykke has worked with and for companies like Bang & Olufsen and Saga Furs of Scandinavia. Her work has been on public display all over the world, including at SOFA 2003/2004 in Chicago and at Nordic Cool, NMWA, Washington D.C. in 2004. In Denmark Ane Lykke’s works could be seen at the exhibition “Mind the Gap” at the Danish Design Center at the beginning of 2006, where she will later be participating in an exhibition entitled “Honey, I’m Home”. |
