Anna-Carin Dahl

b. 1970, Swedish Ceramic and Glass Designer

Dahl graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 2002 and has since supplemented her education by attending masterclasses at the Pilchuck Glass School and at The Studio, in Corning USA. Previously she spent two years from 1991-93 studying ethnology and history of art at the University of Gothenburg. Dahl’s motifs are inspired by her childhood in the forests of Småland, Sweden. Her desire is to make her works exist in a form of tension between beauty, humour and naivetë. This approach to materials and to working in plastic materials sometimes leads her back to earlier periods of art history. Her work arises from a desire to combine childhood memories of unspoiled Swedish scenery with more of a raw, urban expression. Since 2006 Dahl has been part of the design collective Designer Zoo in Copenhagen. Her work sells from here as well as from a selection of other shops in Copenhagen and abroad.
