Ceramic Boxes

The CERAMIC BOXES are cast in white stoneware and decorated with serigraphic transfers, designed to be at once decorative and functional. The boxes come in two different shapes, oblong and pill-shaped, or round. They can be used as vases or to hold little secrets. The decoration might be a funny laundry instruction, a photomontage, plants, or simple, stringently graphic motifs. The boxes are glazed with transparent glaze on the outside and a pale green, pink, or pale blue glaze on the inside. The boxes are produced at her own workshop in Vejle, where Møller Jensen runs her design company ClayFever.

Tanja Møller Jensen

b. 1974, Danish Ceramic Designer

Møller Jensen completed her training at the Institute of Glass and Ceramics at Designskolen Kolding in 2003, and has supplemented her education with studies at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, and at the Museum of International Ceramic Art at Guldagergård in Skælskør, Denmark. She works mainly with a white base of stoneware or porcelain which she decorates using serigraphy techniques. In addition to cast and folded shapes made from clay and stoneware, Møller Jensen has produced a range of decorative ceramic stools made from frost-proof stoneware. In 2004 she was awarded the Designspot Prize at the Formland Fair, and her works have been exhibited at Grimmerhus in Middelfart in connection with Network Europe 2003. In November 2004 her ceramic boxes were selected for Danish Crafts’ Collection no. 9 and were exhibited at the Frankfurt Ambiente in February of 2005. Here they were spotted by Designboom from Milan, Italy, and she was invited to share the stand of an international network of designers at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, in May of 2005.
