Bowls in Bloom

Bowls in Bloom is a series of single, double- and triple-joined bowls made from slipped red clay. Rising from a desire to create a series of bowls that appeal not only as purely decorative objects, but which also draw in users, appealing to their imagination for their use. The basic colour of the bowls is dark red and they come with yellow, pale pink or white ornamentation

Marie Eggert Jørgensen

b. 1977, Danish Ceramic Designer

Jørgensen completed her education at Danmarks Designskole in 2002 graduating from Designskolen Kolding in 2006. She mainly works with red clay and porcelain. Her designs typically take their starting point from investigations and examinations of specific techniques. This is the way she works at developing a particular expression creating constructive interference with the technique in question. Jørgensen finds the inspiration for her work in the social space arising between people in mealtime situations. By letting her works appear with a mixture of immediacy and fabrication, Jørgensen wants her pieces to bring across and express closeness and physical availability, inviting touch and use.
