Spoons / Citrus Squeezer

SPOONS Britt Villadsen has created a series of modern ceramic spoons in different colours. The idea for these spoons arose from a desire to create something different from the traditional metal spoon, which at the same time can be used as decorative tableware for serving small dishes. The spoons are available in packs of 3 and come in purple, white, pink, blue, yellow and green. The little packs make ideal presents for a hostess. CITRUS SQUEEZER Britt Villadsen’s citrus squeezer is shaped like a sculpture.

Britt S. Villadsen

b. 1979, Danish Ceramic Designer

A graduate of the ceramics line of Designskolen Kolding in 2005, Villadsen reinterprets traditional, everyday household objects. Her pieces often take their cue from classics – like a mortar-and-pestle or a citrus squeezer – to which she gives new life and a new look. Villadsen’s artistic motto seems to be that there is no reason to put away good utensils after use. Her design products for the kitchen and the dining table reflect her passion for good ingredients and their preparation. She finds it important to demonstrate how the various utensils can underpin the food preparation process. Thus their use provides a sensory experience of shape, smell, color and texture, from fresh ingredients to finished meal. Villadsen’s utensils are stoneware, often cast, because she wants her products to be durable and able to withstand frequent use. In 2003 Villadsen was represented at the Student Exhibition under the Oslo International Ceramic Symposium. In 2005 she received a travel grant from the Gudrun and Erik Kauffelt Foundation.
