Charlotte Hargreave has created a lidded glass carafe. The carafe is mouth-blown and the lid features a transparent lip giving a discrete colour-play. The carafe was created on the basis of a desire to combine and balance function and aesthetics to create a beautiful object for everyday use. Holding half a litre it is the perfect size for carrying your water around the house or garden. The lid keeps the water insect-free while doubling up as a glass. The carafe is equally suited for bedside use as for the podium or the café-table. It measures 22cm in H, holds 0,5L and comes with a steel-grey, lime-green or blue lid.

Charlotte Hargreave

b. 1977, Danish Glass Designer

Hargreave graduated from the Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm in 2002. Since 2004, she has had the glass studio Celsiusglas in collaboration with other designers. She was included in CC11, CC12 and CC+ for EXPO with “Carafe”. Charlotte Hargreave typically takes an explorative approach based on a given technique. Her works are created on the basis of numerous trials that she blows, cuts up and combines in ways that often produce a result that deviates from the original intention. Hargreave finds inspiration in the design of the 1950’s and 60’s; her expression is simple and rooted in Scandinavian design traditions. She has received a number of grants in recognition of her work, including grants from Danmarks Nationalbank’s Anniversary Foundation and the Toyota Foundation. In 2007, Hargreave took part in the Biennale for Craft and Design and exhibited in the Denmark House in Paris.
