Sprout

Sprout is a small vase for a single flower. The vase is cast in porcelain and kept plain white to emphasise the simplicity of the shape and to allow the flower to add colour.

Jeanette List Amstrup

b. 1962, Danish Ceramic Designer

Amstrup graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 1994. Her ceramic experiments have centred on a quirky shape she calls Sprout. This simple porcelain vase is designed to hold just one flower, and this function imparts to the vase a very special character, which makes it difficult to renounce its acquaintance. After experimenting with the plaster models preceding her final design, Amstrup developed Sprout in two sizes. Both vases arose from an interest in clean-cut shapes and stringent lines, and their organic form is achieved through Amstrup's mastery of a range of special ceramic techniques.
